About the Job
The Student Account Coordinator/Cashier with have primary responsibilities in the Bursar area. The Coordinator/Cashier will accept and process payments; make monthly payment plan collection calls; answer Bursar, Meal Plan, and Student ID Card related questions; and serve as a customer service position in Bursar’s Office. This position will work in collaboration with other Bursar/Financial Aid staff to ensure timelyposting of payments and refunds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet students, families, and visitors as they enter the OneStop space
- Provide top notch first contact customer service to students, families, and visitors via the telephone, email, and in person
- Staff the front counter as needed
- Provide general billing information to students and parents via phone, email, and in person
- Receive and post cash, check, and monitor credit card transactions
- Daily balancing of cashiering sessions and preparing bank Deposits
- Process Student refunds
- Verify MPP Applications and process
- Answer Main phone line for the Student Account Office
- Assist students in completion of financial documentation
- Assist in the document imaging process including scanning, filing, and mailings
- Responsible for Student Accounts email account
- Open office mail and distribute
- Provide excellent customer service to prospective, current, and former students
- Answer basic questions and provide direction to students with questions in the areas of Financial Aid and Registrar
- Assist staff with additional projects based on the employee’s demonstrated strengths
- Other duties as assigned
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to uphold confidentiality and fully comply with FERPA regulations
- Must be comfortable working with a diverse student population on a one-to-one basis
- Knowledge of basic accounting practices
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Must demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone and email
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Experience with Banner preferred
- Prior experience in customer service is highly desirable
Work Environment: The tasks involved in this position are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, bending, light-lifting or other restricted physical activities. Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, and they do not require special sensory demands.
