SUNY Schenectady County Community College is seeking a full-time Student Success Coach in their College in the High School Office. Reporting to the Project Director, the Student Success Coach is a full-time grant-funded position, responsible for proactive outreach and supportive intervention to Dual Enrollment Students. The Student Success Coach is responsible for promoting a positive and successful learning experience for students both on-campus and at Schenectady High School in an effort to increase student retention, success and completion. This position is subject to renewal based upon performance evaluation and continued availability of federal funds. The incumbent does have supervisory responsibility over students.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Assist current students who are at-risk by connecting them with resources on campus and at the high school to provide support
+ Work closely with students to develop and update their success plans
+ Utilize Starfish and other academic and educational systems to develop intervention and success strategies for program participants
+ Monitor student grades and attendance and maintain case management files to track contact hours, issues, and outcomes of coaching sessions with appropriate documentation
+ Collaborate with Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, and Strategic Initiatives & Planning staff to provide wrap-around services
+ Assist the Project Director on the development of student success programs and workshops throughout the year intended to support students with resources and attain skills prior to academic difficulty to support our success model
+ Communicate with all staff who work with the students to ensure productive communication paths related to student success
+ Consult with faculty to align efforts and assess progress in all courses in which the students are enrolled
+ Provide training on the use of Starfish (early alert) to students and faculty periodically throughout the year
+ Provide assistance to students and instructors to problem solve issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, persistence and attendance
+ Develop and present lessons, workshops, or trainings on coaching; develop relationships with college and other training providers to stay abreast of community needs and college programs in order to provide students with up-to-date and accurate information; establish and maintain effective working partnerships with key stakeholders
+ Interpret and apply results of predictive analytics and non-cognitive assessment to assist in determining caseloads
+ Monitor students' progress and adjust pathways as needed
+ Other duties or special projects as assigned by the Project Director
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Master's degree with at least one year of experience working with students in a support role OR a Bachelor's degree with three years of experience working with students in a support role
+ Experience working in a community college or higher education setting or secondary education setting or directly working with students in a supportive environment
+ Strong communication and organization skills
+ Ability to work autonomously
