An applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in the State, in a sufficient number of courses and classes in such institution to be classified as a full-time regular student under the criteria used by the institution in which they are enrolled.
A full-time student retains their status during breaks, which occur in the course of or between session, including summer breaks.
Pay will be hourly and based upon the student’s major and classification within their program.
Student operators may be scheduled to work 15-25 hours per week, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Background check, drug test and verification of enrollment from the educational institution will be required upon hire.

The Division of Administration/Office of Technology Services (Production Support Services) is seeking a dependable student worker. The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in the State, in a sufficient number of courses and classes in such institution to be classified as a full-time regular student under the criteria used by the institution in which he/she is enrolled. A full-time student retains his/her status during breaks, which occur in the course of or between sessions, including summer breaks.
Technical Student Employee
This position’s duties include a range of tasks related to computer hardware, programming, and information technology operations. The candidate will have the opportunity to support the operations of our IT centers, including assisting in system disaster recovery and controlling input and output, under the supervision of full-time professional IT staff. The candidate may also have the opportunity to prepare schedules, execute production runs, and audit and validate work product.
While experience and proficiency are not necessarily expected or required of successful student/intern candidates, the candidate should have a basic understanding of computer hardware and be able to assist in troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining various system components such as PCs, printers, scanners, system boards, and hard drives. The candidate should have an interest in and be able to learn one or more programming languages. The candidate should have good communication skills and be able to explain technical and complex information to various audiences. The candidate also should have the ability to analyze and interpret machine or processing problems and recommend solutions based on predefined standards.
25% Troubleshoots, images, installs, moves, maintains, and deliver PCs, printers, scanners, system boards, hard drives, I/O cards, and other computer hardware. Assists with physical Server/Power/Fiber & Data Cable installations. Perform IP address lookups and requests IP address changes. Monitors certain DOA Mainframe and Data Center Servers, Environments, Power, and Camera systems for availability and alerts.
25% Performs high-level programming functions for multiple or complex assigned functional program areas, including applications development & maintenance, program analysis & maintenance, planning, disaster recovery management, security, general maintenance, networking, website design, development and maintenance, communications, and new and emerging technologies. Assists in assigned advanced duties in database design, system design or programming skills (in multiple languages). Communicates technical and/or complex information to citizens, state employees and other state and national callers.
25% Operate complex IT machinery, such as mail insert & sorting machines. Processes critical notices and mailings with specific, high-quality output standards and deadlines. Monitors nightly cycles of critical systems. Verifies job outputs according to System Administration checklists and procedures. Maintains the production environment by use of advanced automated schedulers and other utilities available to the center. Routinely supports the centers applications, systems and operations areas as required and in activities requiring specialized production or recovery processing.
25% Assists in system disaster recovery. Controls input and output in an Information Technology center and receives source data from state and federal users and outside industry. Prepares schedules and executes production runs. Audits and validates work from the processing room and prepares for distribution. Submits or assembles job control language (JCL) and/or data for processing, logs, requests and records activities. Coordinates required reprint activity with operations and/or insert room personnel. Modifies or prepares job control language (JCL), schedules jobs for processing, initiates job recovery procedures, uses software production packages to perform various functions at a computer terminal/workstation, identifies job abends and errors in coding and reschedules production processing. Analyzes, interprets and recommends solutions to machine or processing problems based on predefined standards.
