About the Job
WHAT IS THE BRAND?
Mashburn is an Atlanta-based apparel and lifestyle brand launched in 2007 with a singular passion: taking care of people. The company designs, manufactures, and markets a nationally-recognized assortment of menswear (SID MASHBURN) and womenswear (ANN MASHBURN) alongside other high-quality, iconic brands. We want to be the world's go-to lifestyle shop - a place that embodies service and style, accessibility and luxury, and, for us, the very best of everything. Most excitingly, our story is still unfolding, and incredible growth opportunities lie ahead...
WHAT IS THE JOB?
This position will have a January 2025 start date.
As Studio Stylist, you will support fashion and product photography for e-commerce, wholesale, digital marketing, and print catalog channels. You will be present on photo shoots (both in-studio and on location) to ensure that the garments look their best on models, maintaining design's fit intention and founders' aesthetic point of view.
Since our leaders cannot be on every shoot, you will be a key part of Creative's eyes (and hands) on set, formulating outfits that bring to life the brand's point of view, highlight the product being sold, demonstrate styling versatility, and accurately represent the garment's fit. You will watch a monitor closely for fit imperfections (collar gaps, drooping pocket squares, unflattering bunching) and work quickly to rectify by pinning, clamping, or simply jumping on set to adjust by hand.
This role is highly creative and requires you to work innovatively, yet resourcefully, with evergreen items in the styling pantry to optimize outfit changes and keep shoots running efficiently. You will work closely with the rest of Creative Team (Sample Coordinator, Photographers, Creative Director, Chief Creative Officer) and meet frequently with cross-functional partners (Design, Wholesale, Merchandising, and Founders) to make sure all interests are represented in photography. This position reports to the Manager of Photography and is a salaried, non-exempt role.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Participate in all on-figure photo shoots by selecting supporting pieces to best highlight key features and reinforce brand identity.
- Style garments on models on set, ensuring outfits are appropriately layered/accessorized and fitting as intended, and monitoring for continued camera readiness.
- Attend pre-season product walkthroughs to understand each garment's key features, selling points, and styling intention, noting which items are to be shown together.
- Represent founders' aesthetic preferences to ensure that all on-model styling reflects the brand's POV
- Collaborate with Creative and Design teams to develop styling concepts aligned with brand identity, collection, and trends.
- Log outfits to share with Web Team so that supporting styling pieces are linked appropriately on website and product detail pages.
- Note fit/size discrepancies and communicate feedback to appropriate cross-functional teams (e.g. Design, Production, Merchandising).
- Maintain seasonal and evergreen styling closets, working with Founders, Merchandising and Design to fill styling holes or needs.
- Work with Sample Coordinator to identify and request additional samples when needed in preparation for photo shoots, and ensure that they are steamed, pressed, and photo-ready.
WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIALS?
- Strong eye for menswear and womenswear styling.
- Ability to put together outfits in both casual and tailored contexts.
- Working knowledge of garment construction and tailoring, with ability to pin, clamp, and adjust garments for optimal fit.
- Ability to use an iron/steamer.
- Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- "Team player" mindset that enjoys working collaboratively.
