Subrogation Specialist

The Subrogation Specialist is a full-time position. This person will answer any questions on the Subrogation Agreement that our customers are asked to sign. The subrogation agreement is with a subrogation attorney that assists our customer's health plan in determining third-party liability and subrogation, including coordination of benefits that includes all Med Pay, Personal Injury Protection (PIP), or no-fault coverage.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with the claims account manager once accident/injury information is received to determine if a third party is liable and if claims fall under covered benefits.
- Answer any questions that the plan participant has during the entire process.
- Receiving information and calls from the plan participant attorney handling the accident/injury claim.
- You will be in direct contact with the Plan's Subrogation Attorney providing information and obtaining information from them.
- You will work directly with our internal Account Executives on:
- Questions that our customers may have on the Subrogation Agreement we ask them to sign.
- Alerting customers on subrogation file details and options customers have
- Work with Reinsurance team members on any Stop Loss, including providing information to the reinsurance or aggregate carriers or to their attorney working the stop loss file.
- Work with the internal Appeals team on accident/injury-related claims and subrogation file appeals.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED. Some college is helpful but not required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
- Good math skills.
- Ability to interpret spreadsheet and insurance claim forms, strong problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Strong Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines is critical to success.
- Professional phone communication skills that include being polite and courteous.
- Good organizational skills and excellent customer service.
- Ability to multitask with interruptions.
- Ability to interpret plan document language and benefits.
- Good writing skills using proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
- Self-motivated & self-starter with a willingness to learn.
- Excellent attendance.
Hours Required: 40 per week- Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Basis: Hourly
