Substance Use Disorder Treatment Coordinator - Vera French Community Mental Health Center

We are looking for an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Vera French team. The ACT Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for providing rehabilitation and support functions to persons with mental illness who have demonstrated an inability to be successful in a traditional outpatient setting.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Serve as a substance abuse counselor to individuals, families, and groups; providing substance abuse services education, support and consultation
• Provides crisis intervention under clinical supervision as assigned
• Assess and track a client's stages of change readiness and stages of recovery using knowledge of motivational interviewing and outreach techniques
• Conduct comprehensive substance abuse assessments that examine the relationship between substance use and mental health
• Develop positive relationships with other agencies and organizations; establish relationships to coordinate substance abuse services
• Supports and facilitates an environment that is both safe and promotes optimal trauma informed care.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Associate's degree in mental health field required; Bachelor's degree in mental health field preferred
• At least two years of documented supervised experience in providing substance abuse services and working with person with co-occurring disorders
• Considerable knowledge of Substance Abuse principles and practices in appropriate specialty, mental health
• Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (CADC) or Temporary Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (tCADC) certification required
• Must be currently be licensed in the state of Iowa per degree
