Linn Benton Lincoln Education Service District is looking for Substitute Instructional Assistants for an on call basis to assist and support teacher instruction for our Long Term Care and Treatment and Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Programs.
Location: Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties in Oregon
POSITION OVERVIEW
This dynamic role supports students, families and their colleagues in the learning environment. Working with kids and helping them learn academically, socially and behaviorally is what we do and this role is at the heart of this work. QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities in children.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of computer programs including word processing and databases.
- Meet requirements of finger-print-based criminal history record verification.

- Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
- Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
- Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
- Ability to lift, carry or transport up to 40 lbs. and have the strength and agility to assist children with special needs.
- Must be able to kneel, crouch, sit and move from the floor to standing, sit on child sized furniture while working with children throughout the day.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
- Ability to provide own transportation to school, preschools, community settings, as deemed necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR EARLY INTERVENTION/EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION

- Carry-out specialist’s plans for instruction during individual and small group activities.
- Carry-out specialist’s plans for children in community preschool settings.
- Assist in implementation of behavior programs.
- Assist in lifting physically disabled children.
- Work with children to improve eating, dressing, hygiene and toileting skills.
- Stimulate language through receptive and expressive language programs, and/or augmentative communication strategies.
- Facilitate peer interaction.
- Keep data as required by the specialist.
- Keep teaching materials and other equipment in order.
- Prepare bulletin boards, room decorations and other materials as requested.
- Keep attendance records.
- Assist with playground and bus duty.
- Complete data entry, typing and filing as requested by the specialist.

- Work with students in a residential or day treatment setting throughout the instructional day as directed by teachers and/or administrator.
- Assist in classroom and with behavior management as directed by teachers.
- Provide instruction, accommodations, and modifications to students as directed by teachers and/or administrator.
- Prepare materials for instruction and student activities as directed by teachers and/or administrator.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of student data, as directed.
