Succession & Acquisition Solutions Financial Analyst Intern - Cambridge Investment Research, Inc.

Cambridge has recruited talented interns from across the country to join us during the summer for a 10-12 week internship. Each year, over 35 interns join us for a paid summer internship experience at our home offices in Fairfield, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona. The Next Step internship program gives students practical insight into the financial services industry and allows students to gain practical knowledge in their field. Students are partnered with a professional mentor, supervisor, and executive leader to gain networking opportunities and learn from industry professionals. At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will have the opportunity to present on their experience and a specific project of their choice.  

The Succession and Acquisition Solutions team works with Cambridge financial professionals to plan for their futures by creating succession plans, grow their business through a merger or acquisition, or structure a buyout with an existing partner. This team consults with the financial professionals in aras of practice acquisition strategies, education, business valuation, customized document preparation, and financing with flexible options. As a financial analyst intern on the SAS team, you’ll get the opportunity to analyze data of past valuations to uncover trends and create a streamlined valuation system, learn the mergers and acquisitions space, and understand how market conditions can affect the financial services industry.

We have one SAS Financial Analyst Internship available in the Fairfield, IA office.

As the Financial Analyst Intern, you will:

• Compile a database of completed valuations of financial professional’s practices from the past 5 years
• Analyze the data to uncover trends
• Utilize Excel and Tableau to create the database that will assist the team in creating more timely and accurate valuations of financial professional’s practices
• Learn the mergers and acquisitions space
• Shadow veteran members on the team
• Contribute to other small projects on the team like updating files in Salesforce, reviewing and updating marketing materials, and providing suggestions for improvements within the team’s processes
• Respond to emails and phone inquiries with a positive customer service presence
• Collaborate with team members and present ideas at team meetings and to leadership

Students studying data analytics, business administration, economics, marketing, finance, or a similar major will likely be the most successful in this role.

$16-18 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the compensation to be offered for this position based on the ideal candidate’s qualifications, the Company’s operational needs, and other considerations permitted by law. The actual pay offered to a specific candidate may vary above or below the stated range.
