As an intern, your time will be split between a core program shared throughout the cohort and work, projects and programming designed specifically for the department you are selected to join.
Our Employee Benefits department is excited to host an intern for the upcoming 2025 summer program! This position is located in Pasadena, CA. Day to day responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Learn about different types of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other perks
- Support the team in drafting benefits brochures, benefit education presentations, or other communications to clients regarding their benefits options and updates
- Understand the processes involved in administering employee benefits, including enrollment, claims processing, and compliance
- Aid in the preparation for client meetings or presentations, including gathering relevant materials and creating presentations
- Participate in projects related to benefits planning, implementation, or evaluation, which can enhance organizational and time-management skills
- Build interpersonal skills through interactions with clients, colleagues, and vendors, which is essential for working in a team-oriented environment
- Gain insight into laws and regulations governing employee benefits, such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and COBRA
We're proud of the success many of our former interns have had when they've pursued careers as IMA associates' post-graduation and see our internship program as a key talent pipeline. Because of this, preference is given to students closer to graduation, who demonstrate a curiosity about future employment within our industry.
You Should Have
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a program related to one of our host departments
- Students anticipated to graduate in December 2025 or Spring 2026 will be given preference
- Previous work or internship experience in a professional services or similar environment may be useful, but not required
- An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and provide creative solutions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
