Job Summary
PSEG is looking for an Electrical Engineering Intern for the Engineering Department in Projects and Construction.
This job involves working as a(n) engineer in the Projects and Construction team, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through previous coursework, experience, and on the job training.
This position will be Hybrid. Primary reporting location will be South Plainfield, but additional reporting locations may vary depending on work group assignment. Locations may include Somerset, Lawrenceville, Secaucus, Moorestown, Clifton, Newark.
Job Responsibilities
Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
• Project Engineering - Assist in reviewing electrical and civil calculations and drawings, procuring engineering services and materials, while communicating between project and design teams.
• Electrical Layout Design - Assist in preparing Key Plan Drawings, substation, and control house layout drawings.
• Protection and Controls - Assist in creating and maintaining engineering controls drawings (Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, etc).
• Inside Plant Electrical Construction - Assist in preparing scopes of work to solicits bids from contractors, oversee bid awards and construction. Possible work includes substation equipment assembly and installation, steel erection, requesting equipment outages for safety, etc.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required education/skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering and graduating between December 2025 and May 2028. Students graduating in May/June 2025 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the Fall term of 2025. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed freshman level course work for consideration.

_Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required._
Preferred:
• 3.0 GPA
• Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as AutoCAD
• Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry (interest or concentration in Power Systems)
All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
