This is a paid hourly position.
HOURS: Monday through Friday, 30- 40 hours a week
LOCATION: Wilmington, NC- Hybrid work schedule
About the Position- What will you learn and gain experience in:
As an Intern with GTM, you will gain valuable experience in, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Gain hands-on experience and on-the-job training in corporate federal, state, and local tax through real work engagements in a professional services setting
- Learn and receive mentorship and guidance from experienced Staff and Managers with tenure, experience, and technical knowledge across a variety of industries
- Learn and obtain hands-on experience in the preparation of consolidated and standalone corporate federal and state income tax returns for selected clients
- Research technical tax issues, draft memoranda, document research, and support clients on various corporate tax functions
- Learn tax return filing requirements for foreign operations
- Conduct federal and state tax research
- Assist in the review of memorandums to support tax return filing positions
- Obtain understanding and hands-on experience in tax return filing requirements
- Learn ASC 740 and how to prepare income tax accrual calculations
- Learn and engage in tax technology tools
- Potential for future full-time employment opportunities
Qualifications Sought:
- Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting or related field.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to communicate updates and keep members of the Tax Team informed on the status of projects and work.
- Detail-oriented individual with a can-do attitude
- Aptitude to pick up and learn new technologies quickly
- Ability to manage multiple projects and report on the project statuses
