Position Summary
A GMHILL Superintendent (Triple Hat) is responsible for the overall field work on a GMHILL project, wearing a “triple hat” of Superintendent, SSHO and QAQC, leading all field efforts to remain vigilant on quality and safety as we accomplish the mission, always ensuring that company policies and procedures are met regarding safety, scheduling, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction. Experience and credentialing as a Superintendent/SSHO/CQM on federal USACE projects required. Must be proficient in writing Daily Reports, Safety Reports, AHAs, etc. as part of a total risk management process. Must produce Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) with the site-specific plans, programs and procedures required to complete the tasks assigned using EM385-1-1 as a guide. Key Tasks
Following is a general list of tasks falling into the Superintendent’s areas of responsibility:
• Direct and coordinate GMHILL’s trade contractors and their subcontractors, when required, to ensure they safely produce high-quality work within the approved project schedule
• Supervise the construction of a large project or multiple projects as primary safety representative in the field
• Onsite representative of GM Hill brand.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to coordinate trades, plan, and anticipate potential problems before they arise
• Direct / Supervise all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications
• Produce meeting minutes, RFIs, as-builts, Toolbox Talks, and Daily Reports to develop, maintain and archive project progress.
• Conduct onsite meetings for safety, three phases of QC, subcontractor, OAC, etc. to include accurate and complete minutes of each meeting.
- Safety reporting to include weekly inspections, monthly inspections, incident reports, accident reports, and near-miss reports.
• Daily reports are detailed, accurate, and timely, including photos and descriptions, email, visitor, and call logs.
• Communication is concise, clear, substantive, and supportive.
- Technical knowledge of the industry is above average.
• Prepare work schedule, determine manpower requirements, material quantities, equipment needs, and supervise completion of final punch list
• Serves in the role of primary POC for the client. Positively represents GM Hill in every interaction.
- Ability to anticipate conflicts and issues. “Adapt and overcome” approach to challenges.
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere ensuring actions and behaviors are respectful among all field personnel.
Education and Training Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management discipline preferred and minimum of 10-years' experience in Superintendent, SSHO, Quality Control, and/or construction management roles. Demonstrated record of project safety and success on work valued from $500K to $10M.
• Procore Certified: Superintendent certificate (Can be acquired within 30 days of hire.)
• OSHA 30 certifications and ARC First Responder Course completion
• USACE Certified Quality Manager certification required
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the operational regions.
• Must be physically fit to walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and meet other demands needed for inspections of projects and assessing areas of construction
• Must have proficiencies with industry standard software such as Procore, MSOffice, Excel, Word, MS Project & Outlook. RMS experience highly desired.
• Customer Service – able to personally provide high level of interactive service to targeted customer base/market, building relationships, and acting as internal company advocate
• Team Orientation & Interpersonal – highly motivated, passionate, and creative team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization
• Communication – able to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing, using correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner
• Organization & Time Management – able to work independently, planning, scheduling, and organizing schedule to complete actions within established deadlines, handling multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
• Must be able to read and interpret complex project blueprints/plans and specifications; to include site/civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings
