Position Summary for Water/Wastewater Collection Systems Superintendent:
The Water/Wastewater Collection System Superintendent will be responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to the inspection, maintenance, and cleaning of water and wastewater collection systems. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong background in collection systems operations, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Key Responsibilities of Water/Wastewater Collection Systems Superintendent::
- Plan, schedule, and oversee all water and wastewater collection systems inspection and cleaning activities to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Supervise a team of technicians and operators, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Conduct regular inspections of water and wastewater collection systems to identify issues and determine maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other leadership to develop and implement maintenance plans.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Respond to emergency situations and coordinate prompt and effective resolution.
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as Jetters, Vac-Trucks, Combo trucks, Street Sweepers, etc.
- Monitor and report on the performance of the collection systems, identifying areas for improvement.
Qualifications for Water/Wastewater Collection Systems Superintendent::
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in water and wastewater collection system maintenance and operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role (Foreman or higher.
- In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater collection system inspection and cleaning methods, equipment, and technologies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficient in using computer software and applications related to collection system management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Prefer a Class A CDL or Class B with Air Brakes and Tankers endorsements.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

- Ability to work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials as needed.
- Willingness to be on-call for emergency situations.
