Coordinates and supervises the daily business and support activities within the Ambulatory Clinic (East) to ensure efficient patient flow and access to services related to scheduling, registration, insurance verification, referral, pre-certification, pre-authorization, and cash collections.
What you will do
- Apprises Practice Manager of all activities, pertinent changes in internal/ external market, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner and presents action plans for immediate implementation/approval.
- Implements daily support activities which includes the registration, scheduling, insurance verification, referral, pre-certification, pre-authorization, and cash collections to ensure efficient patient flow and access to services. • Plans work schedules to provide adequate support all times. • Makes work assignments; sets priorities and redirects employees to other tasks as the need arises. • Monitors workflow and verifies that required tasks have been performed as required. • Demonstrates knowledge of the patient access process and makes decisions which utilize resources effectively.
- Supervises, develops and motivates direct reports to ensure that a capable, productive staff exists in the Admitting department. • Assists in selecting staff. Orients, trains and develops staff to meet requirements set forth in department plan. • Provides in-services and training opportunities for staff. • Evaluates performance and initiates corrective action as required.
- Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements to maintain knowledge of patient access practices. Responds to problems/opportunities to improve work environment and participates in unit based performance improvement activities. • Attends in-services, educational programs, conferences and other meetings as required. • Supports and is involved in the organization’s Performance Improvement initiatives. • Participates on department and/or organization-wide cross functional teams.
- Monitors activities of assigned areas. Makes recommendations/implements changes as needed to improve services and/or efficiency in operations.
- Ensures that cash is collected, recorded and deposited in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Works collaboratively with Patient Financial Services to coordinate registration/financial processes to meet billing requirements.
- Prepares and maintains required reports and records for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in business, office management or related field or equivalent administrative experience in related area. Required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA Preferred and
- Additional certifications based on practice/clinic assignment. Required
- At least 2 years experience patient access or patient financial experience or equivalent in an ambulatory setting or administrative operations with a thorough knowledge of registration, scheduling, insurance verification and certification practices. Required and
- At least 1 year experience Additional experience and requirements based on assigned medical clinics/practices. Required
