Job Summary and Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is required to assist with procedures in CVS (EP Lab/Cath Lab/Hybrid OR/HRU/Stress lab) to include the delivery of non-narcotic medications to medical staff and licensed staff during procedures. This is accomplished as a non- interruptive single task from one point to the other. This position is responsible for oversight of all Cardiovascular Techs (CVT), and assist in operating and troubleshooting of general equipment, scrubbing, procedural hemodynamic monitoring, and positioning patients. The CVT Supervisor will also be responsible for overseeing daily supply and procedure charges. The CVT Supervisor performs in collaboration with other members of the health care delivery team to deliver quality patient care. This position is cross-trained to assist in EP Lab, Hybrid OR, Heart Recovery, non-invasive procedures to include EKG and Stress testing. Core Competencies will be assessed in accordance to the units’ specific patient population served.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- 1. Responsible for oversight of all CVT’s.
- 2. Responsible for educating and maintaining departmental competencies for CVT’s.
- 3. Operates radiographic equipment, and digital equipment.
- 4. Prepares or assists with patient preparation, provides instruction to patient, assists with transportation of patients.
- 5. Assists in procedures in capacity of scrub tech, monitoring tech or radiologic technologist.
- 6. Functions in all aspects of the Cardiac Cath Lab/ Hybrid OR, and EP Lab, with the exception of medication administration.
- 7. Ensures sterile techniques and patient safety are maintained.
- 8. Prepares equipment at the start of each day, assures quality controls are performed on equipment.
- 9. Assures Radiation Safety during procedures, assures staff are wearing monitoring badges and protective equipment.
- 10. Assists with code arrest situations during procedures, including CPR and defibrillation.
- 11. Assists Director with Cath Lab PI data collection/ daily Cath Lab Dashboard and report generation.
- 12. Assists Director with training staff on Merge Hemo
- 13. Assists Director with review of required case documentation of procedures
- 14. Assists Director with staff schedule
- 15. Assists in Cath Lab, Hybrid OR, EP Lab, Heart Recovery, non-invasive procedures to include EKG and Stress testing.
- 16. Maintains department Safety Radiation QC for Cath Lab, Hybrid OR, and EP Lab.
- 17. Maintains cardiac images cross over to Marge Cardio
- 18. Assist Director with employee evaluations
- 19. Maintains department equipment, orders inventory for invasive and non-invasive areas, assures charges are completed each day and ensures daily departmental pharmaceutical needs are met.
- 20. Responsible for maintaining supply scan sheets and books to ensure proper scanning/charging of patients.
- 21. Responsible for coordinating with Product Reps to arrange in-services and ensure products that are on consignment, are correct and accurate.
- 22. Assist physicians with dictations and training on CV Pac’s systems for dictations, reports, etc.
- 23. Assists Administrative Director with CVS and M&M presentations.
- 24. Participates in Standby and On Call. Provides coverage for care of the patients in Non-invasive stress testing and the Interventional Unit on a rotational and/or as needed basis.
- 25. Maintains professional development and license requirements.
REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
1. Must have one of the following;
- Registry in Radiologic Technologists
- RCIS or RCVT certification or ARRT
- Minimum of 2 years recent cath lab experience
2. Basic Cardiac Life Support
3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Graduate of an Accredited Cardiovascular technology college.
