Supervisor, Diagnostic CV Lab - Cardiovascular Lab - Full Time - The Guthrie Clinic

Overview

Position Summary: 

Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2‐dimensional, 3‐dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiograms, as requested by a physician and in accordance with standard practices. Provides echocardiography service at all necessary locations, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, evaluating the services, activities and budget in the ECHO area. Responsible for supervising, hiring orientating, training, competency and evaluation of personnel in the ECHO area. Ensuring quality and appropriateness of care for all age groups. Interrelationship personnel are all hospital staff, physicians, patients and patient family members. Must be flexible solver with winning vision that builds team skills through skilled communication. Active with a current registry status at all times. 

Education, License & Cert: 

• BA/BS required. 
• Requires a two‐year allied health degree and successful completion of an approved one‐year program in Ultrasound Technology and at least two years’ experience in the field. 
• Requires registration or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent organization. 

Experience: 

Minimum required experience 5 years. CPR Certification, Registered Cardiac Sonographer or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. Minimum 3 years work experience in an independent non‐invasive cardiovascular laboratory with teaching, administrative and managerial duties. 

Essential Functions: 

1. Performance of quality echo, stress echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms on adult and pediatric patients. 
2. Oversee daily operations and ensure that self and technicians perform appropriate number of studies daily that are accurate and follow quality guidelines. Ensure that exams conducted are in a clean, safe, secure, quiet and confidential environment. 
3. Coordinate daily inpatient needs with portable staff. Responsible for ensuring that STAT/Critical exams are performed within a timely manner. 
4. Create and adjust month schedules for technicians and maintain coverage for lab and satellite sites. 
5. Participation and leadership figure in staff meetings, committees, QA projects, and teams in a collaborative manner to attain institutional and departmental goals.  Assist in the teaching of students, fellows, and new technicians. 
6. Maintain inventory and supply records. Responsible for billing reconciliation practices for main campus and satellites. Follow cost‐control standards of the hospital and department. 
7. Respond promptly and positively to escalated concerns with patients, families, associates, and others in a courteous and confidential manner while following hospital and departmental procedures. Demonstrate adept knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age‐appropriate care to patients. 
8. Reports to the Director of Cardiovascular Service Line Non‐Invasive Labs.
