Job Summary:
Supervisor of Engineering Field Technicians at DQE will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of field engineers who are responsible for overseeing and coordinating various projects within our infrastructure. This role involves coordinating field activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and providing technical support and guidance to the team. You will work closely with engineers and project managers to implement technical solutions and address issues promptly and efficiently. Must be local to the Pittsburgh area. Hybrid work environment.

Supervisor of Engineering Field Technicians at DQE will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of field engineers who are responsible for overseeing and coordinating various projects within our infrastructure. This role involves coordinating field activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and providing technical support and guidance to the team. You will work closely with engineers and project managers to implement technical solutions and address issues promptly and efficiently. Must be local to the Pittsburgh area. Hybrid work environment.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of field engineers, setting clear objectives and performance expectations.
- Schedule and assign field tasks, ensuring efficient resource allocation and coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs to enhance team skills and performance.
- Conduct field visits with and manage expectations of utility, state or local authorities, as well as facility owners/managers.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures while working in the field and enforce safety protocols and ensure that all field operations comply with environmental regulations and company safety policies.
- Coordinate field activities with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities, including work orders, service reports, and equipment usage.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on team performance, operational metrics, and project status to senior management.
- Address and resolve any technical issues or challenges encountered by field engineers.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to support ongoing business success
- Conduct site surveys to assess telecommunications infrastructure requirements.
- Perform maintenance and upgrades on existing telecommunications systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in telecommunications technology.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to effectively guide and motivate a team.
- In-depth technical knowledge of telecommunications systems, equipment, and installation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach to resolving technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
- SiteTracker knowledge a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in field engineering within the telecommunications industry, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Minimum five years AutoCAD computer aided drafting experience.
