Reporting to the business unit Director of Finance, the Supervisor is responsible for supervising a staff that creates financial reports for an assigned business unit.
Job Description:
The Financial Supervisor oversees the collection and analysis of financial information for the business unit. The role monitors the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and ensures financial information has been recorded accurately. Creates reports for the analysis of variances in budget vs. actual.
Essential Responsibilities of the Job:
1. Supervise the staff which includes providing mentorship, developing analytical skills, and ensuring cross-training of all systems and processes amongst the business unit (s).
2. Work with the clinical staff to develop a monthly analysis of revenue and contractual amounts, including payer and provider trends.
3. Direct and coordinate the annual budget process and the implementation of the organization's budget policies. Support and respond to questions from users, manage and coordinate the rollup of financial data.
4. Provide support during the external audit providing analytics, as requested, and assist with the creation of the audit financial statements.
5. Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to identify trends and benchmarks. Review and compile the monthly management, discussions and analysis reports.
6. Manage and generate all information required for internal and external reporting including government and insurance payers where necessary.
7. Provide month end reporting and analysis to Accounting department for month end close.
8. Other duties as assigned
Required Job Qualifications:
Minimum education required: · Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience · Management or supervisory experience is preferred · Experience in healthcare/hospital finance environment (non-profit experience preferred).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications
· EPIC software experience is a plus · Ability to mine databases and extract relevant data · Experience with modeling and budgeting
· Ability to communicate on a one-to-one basis to educate managers on financial issues impacting their budgets ·
Strong technical skills in the area of financial planning and accounting to support division leadership through the development of financial models, pro forma project reports, and financial analyses.
· Ability to critically and constructively assess financial proposals put forth by Center and division leadership to support the development of and/or make changes to projects that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization
· Ability to prioritize assignments to complete work in timely manner when there are changes in workload and pressures of deadlines. · Desires to improve upon the status quo, always seeking to improve process efficiencies and further add transparency and clarity to the reporting function.
