Job Details
The ideal candidate for this role is a proven accounting professional skilled in performing both standard and advanced accounting tasks with a focus on tax preparation and compliance. This role involves handling recurring client engagements, overseeing work quality, and ensuring that all projects meet budgetary and time constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Account Reconciliation: Record transactions, reconcile accounts, and prepare accurate financial statements.
- Tax Preparation & Compliance: Calculate and file tax returns for individuals, businesses, and international clients. Prepare specific filings such as 1040NR returns, FIRPTA applications, and FBAR (Foreign Bank Account Reporting).
- Advanced Calculations & Compliance: Perform computations for accruals, property, equipment, depreciation, payroll taxes, and other tax obligations as applicable.
- Review and Proofing: Follow review notes to ensure accuracy, minimize revisions, and proof tax returns and financial statements.
- Supervision & Training: Guide and mentor Staff Accountants, ensuring adherence to standards and quality control.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Client Communication & Coordination: Efficiently manage client communications to clarify requirements, deadlines, and updates.
- Research & Documentation: Stay updated on changes in tax law, engage in continuing education, and conduct research as needed for complex tax and accounting issues.
- Compliance & Practice Development: Understand firm policies, pursue continuing professional education, and actively engage in networking and relationship-building within the local business community.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s in accounting or a related field.
- Experience: At least two years of progressive experience in public accounting.
- Certifications: CPA or Enrolled Agent (preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of tax software, spreadsheets, and word processing tools.
- Professional Skills: Excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines while displaying professional integrity and judgment.
