The Patient Access Supervisor must be able to work under stressful conditions with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. Must be able to work in all department duties comfortably and efficiently. Exhibits excellent communication skills with the ability to define the goals of the department as related to the facility as a whole, and works with the Clinic Manager, other supervisors, and staff to achieve those goals. Creates scheduling, collection and TES edit data reports and helps to in-service the staff in needed areas. Oversees patient check-in, scheduling, and check-out. Ensures front desk staff are efficient, accurate, and provide excellent customer service to our patients. Reports to the Clinic Manager and assumes all managerial responsibilities of patient access in the absence of the manager. Essential Duties: 1. Acts as a liaison between management and support team for communication as a liaison between management and support team for communication. 2. Able to complete assignments of all front office staff, Cashier, Admitting Rep, Insurance Verifier, Financial Counselor. 3. Reviews department processes and demonstrates initiative in helping to implement changes. 4. Ensure proper authorizations are obtained before visit. 5. Able to read insurance plans and contracts to aid staff in clarifying copays and deductibles which need to be met by patient. 6. Reviews patient account balances, working with patients in obtaining correct financial information. 7. Collects patient payments. 8. Ensures minimal patient wait times 9. Directly supervises front line staff and reports and acts on any needs within the department. 10. Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills. 11. Handles interdepartmental staff conflicts using appropriate conflict resolution skills. 12. Aids in performance appraisals in a timely manner. 13. Communicates openly with manager on personnel issues 14. Assist in evaluating, counseling and developing staff performances. 15. Performs other related duties as assigned or required willingly and with a positive attitude. 16. Operates as a team player by approaching co-workers and situations in a manner which avoids antagonism and reduces conflict. 17. Attends 99% of all departmental meetings. 18. Keeps track of supply orders, ensuring that all orders stay within the monthly budget. Orders supplies, including medications, in appropriate quantities. 19. Coordinates staffing in order to alleviate overtime and missed meals and breaks. 20. Balance cash drawer batches and submit to finance. 21. Maintains daily patient lists. Provides lists daily to the front office. 22. Schedule patient services. 23. Track customer concerns and find resolution. 24. Perform a variety of reports and maintain logs daily, weekly, and monthly. 25. Work closely within department personnel, including nursing staff and doctors. 26. Interact with authorization, scheduling and billing staff to assist patient through the healthcare system. 27. Provide staff coverage as needed. 28. Other tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications: Req High school or equivalent Req 3 years Experience in a healthcare setting (ie hospital, physician office, managed care). Req Has in depth knowledge in all the functions a healthcare setting (ie hospital, physician office, managed care). Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently. Req Must be comfortable with computers and medical terminology. Req In depth knowledge of all insurance types, including government health programs Req Ability to work collaboratively with multiple personnel and prioritize multiple tasks. Req Experience with computer data entry and spreadsheets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Pref Associate's degree OR Bachelor's Degree Required Licenses/Certifications: Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) The annual base salary range for this position is $60,320.00 - $94,020.00.
