Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Supervisor Plant Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department, including proper management power plant and cogeneration plant responsible for coordinating and supervising maintenance and operation tasks performed on Electrical, Electronic and Heating, Ventilation and Cooling (HVAC) equipment, for Hoag Hospital and it’s affiliates (the “Organization”). The Supervisor, Plant Operations is also responsible for the immediate supervision of Plant Operations staff engaged in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the power plant and cogeneration plant; equipment involved may include cogeneration engines, generators, switchgear, steam boilers, electric and absorption chillers, emergency and standby generators, pumps, compressors, medical gas systems and all associated auxiliary equipment .and is also responsible for the immediate supervision of HVAC, Electronic, and Mechanic staff engaged in the maintenance, and repair of the Organization equipment and facilities in a manner meeting Organization standards and ensuring minimal equipment downtime.
The Supervisor, Plant Operations will represent the Organization by projecting an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct while supporting the mission of the Plant Operations and Building Systems departments for the Organization. Participates in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of Plant Operations and Building Systems standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventative maintenance.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Trade, technical or military training in facility maintenance or equivalent work experience
Minimum of five (5) years experience in facility maintenance preferably within an acute healthcare environment, including the operation and maintenance of emergency power generator systems
Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Project Management, Visio), purchasing software, preventative maintenance software, and Energy Management System
Experience with digital, pneumatic, and electrical controls in addition to Wonderware energy management system program
Knowledge of DNV, Dept of Health, AQMD codes and regulations
Knowledge of city and state building, life safety and fire codes, as well as the ability to interpret blue prints and schematics
Preferred: One (1) year supervisory experience, preferably within an acute healthcare system
Preferred: Qualified bilingual or multilingual candidates
License Required
Current CA driver’s license required for local travel.
Certifications Required
Unlimited Steam Engineer certification from City of Los Angeles.
