JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for directing the Radiation Protection Technicians in planning and scheduling, procedures, training, radiation exposure control, radiological shipping, and rad waste programs in support of Operation and Maintenance activities in the plant. Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and state requirements. Interfaces with Plant Staff and the regulators on matters related to the implementation of the Radiation Protection program.

Minimum education required for the position:
Candidates for this position must meet requirements specified in ANSI/ANS Standards and Regulatory Guidelines. ANSI Section 4.3.2 – Supervisors Not Requiring NRC Licenses: High School Diploma or equivalent. 4 years of experience in craft or discipline he/she supervises.

JOB DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the daily supervision, monitoring, and coaching of employees to ensure productive work force in compliance with company policies, procedures, and maintaining employee relations in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement or other employee policies.
- Maintains an excellent understanding of the work management process. Functions as a team leader. Assists in the RP budget development and function within the budget.
- Communicates with all levels of the organization including representing the department at meetings.
- Ensures assigned tasks are performed safely and efficiently. Proposes time saving tooling and work methods.
- Ensures all RP activities are performed within regulatory and procedural guidelines.
- Manages personnel and resolves employee conflict or concerns. Interfaces with other Holtec sites to maximize resource sharing of RP personnel. Interfaces with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station activities. Communicates technical Radiation Protection information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing. Participates in the shared resources program. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.
- Responsible for the radioactive material shipping procedures and program to include items such as: Receive, package, and ship radioactive materials in compliance with applicable transportation regulations; characterize shipments and select appropriate packaging; determine appropriate marking, labeling, and placarding; prepare required Department of Transportation and Nuclear Regulatory Commission documents for each shipment of radioactive material.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required for the position:
- ANSI/ANS-3.1-1978 section 4.3.2 - High school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in Radiation Protection.
- 4 years of radiological shipping experience.
- Technical proficiency in Radiological shipping.
- Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
- Proficiency with current computer business applications.
- ANSI requirement (4.3.2)
