What You'll Do:
The Supervisor, Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) under the direction and supervision of the RSS Manager, oversees the work and supervision of the assigned Recovery Support Specialist staff. This position will have both leadership and direct are responsibilities and duties. Supervisor responsibilities (20-25%) include onboarding and training, scheduling, timesheet management, and performance management of assigned staff. Direct care responsibilities (75-80%) include performing all regularly assigned Recovery Support Specialist duties. The Supervisor, RSS actively collaborates with the Charge Nurse and other members of the shift to ensure the unit runs safely and efficiently.
- With support and guidance from RSS Manager and other clinical leadership, directs, supervises, and evaluates work of assigned Recovery Support Specialist staff.
- Participates in interview and selection process of Recovery Support Specialist applicants.
- Responsible for onboarding and training of new hires under their supervision, including completion of the 90-day Competency Checklists.
- Maintains adequate staffing of assigned team to ensure an accurate schedule and proper staff to patient ratios. Partners with RSS Management and other RSS Supervisors and assesses staffing needs and increases staffing as necessary during high census times or covers PTO and decreases staffing as needed during low census times. Limits overtime as much as possible through use of Pool staff.
- Reviews and manages assigned staff timesheets to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and company laws, policies, and guidelines.
- Responsible for oversight of RSS staff on assigned shift.
- Leads and guides Recovery Support Specialists for specific shift and units. Reviews or assigns Recovery Support Specialists daily patient and operational workflow at start of shift. Ensures all Recovery Support Specialist duties are coordinated and accomplished. Orchestrates appropriate coverage and consistent patient engagement on the units.
- Ensures that maximum number of groups are being facilitated in OBS/IP unit. Audits and trains quality documentation.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to engage with, facilitate, and advocate for patients to ensure their behavioral and health needs are being met on units and between programs.
- Assists staff with necessary resources to provide successful patient care workflow.
- Provides on-going training and education on Evidence Based Best practice such as Trauma Informed Care, Verbal De-escalation, Group Facilitation, Motivational Interviewing, Patient De-Briefing, and Recovery Support techniques to employees in real time as needed. Assists manager with skillset drills and debriefs with staff afterwards. Acts as an evidence-based skillset role model/trainer.
- Provides orientation and support on unit expectations, accountability, and milieu management including integrating and engaging with patients.
- Assists RSS manager with process workflow, team motivation, and conflict management. Reports any issues to Leadership.
- Responsible for all supervisor duties for assigned staff including timecard approvals, PTO approvals, performance management, and disciplinary actions. Partners with BHS Management on complex and escalated employee issues.
- Oversees work schedule and daily activities of assigned Recovery Support Specialist staff.
- Supervises and is responsible for training, corrective action, and performance reviews of assigned staff.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of behavioral health experience.
- 1 year of supervisory and/or Lead experience.
- Arizona Recovery/Peer Support Specialist certification required.
- Previous RSS or related experience working in an inpatient or outpatient setting with individuals enrolled in behavioral health.
- Must be able to perform and model Motivational Interviewing and Verbal De-escalation techniques.
- Safe Clinch certified.
It would be great if you had:
- Certified training (Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, WRAP, WHAM, ASIST, etc.)
- Completion of Peer Supervision training, CBT training, DBT training.
- 3 years of previous supervisor experience.

- Arizona Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card.
