Summary This vacancy is for a GS-0501-15, Supervisory Financial Administrator located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Business Operations Division (BOD). Responsibilities You will serve as a Supervisory Financial Administrator and be responsible for advising the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent on all matters related to resource management, strategic planning, and institutional research. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Serving as the division chief of the USCGA Business Operations Division. Serving as the USCGA primary liaison for all sources of gift funds and grants that support the Academy's education, training and athletics programs, and facilities. Providing authoritative and comprehensive advice and assistance to ensure budget formulation and execution align with unit and organizational goals. Developing effective strategies to ensure successful short and long-term budget requirements. Overseeing development and implementation of internal control procedures for effective fiscal management across unit. Overseeing and executing personnel policies regarding employment ceilings, use of administratively determined (AD-00) positions, military (Active Duty and Reserve) and civilian positions. Qualifications To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Managing/coordinating a team of financial analysts, conducting reviews of financial/accounting activities; Analyzing/evaluating complex financial/accounting activities to determine compliance with regulations and to assess their efficiency/effectiveness; Establishing/implementing criteria and standards for an organization-wide financial internal control program; Recommending/developing financial policies and procedures for an organization. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
