Supplier Quality Engineer Responsibilities:
- The Supplier Quality Engineer will collaborate with the engineering team to understand product design requirements and play a key role in identifying and selecting qualified suppliers.
- Collaborate with XFN partners in establishing a standardized vendor and supplier selection process.
- Evaluate prospective vendors for process capability based on project needs.
- Publish reports on module yield performance, specification convergence status, and corrective action plans, including failure analysis and yield bridging to mass production.
- Responsible for managing supplier quality by assessing their production and quality controls, evaluating their readiness and compliance with the quality plan, and supporting electrical/electromechanical assembly and manufacturing operations.
- Partner with Engineering to define product acceptance plans based on Product Requirement Document (PRD).
- Collaborate with suppliers and engineering teams to develop process technologies that meet project requirements.
- Familiar with Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) concepts and applies them to optimize the design and manufacturing process of electrical/electro-mechanical modules, ensuring improved efficiency, quality, and reliability.
- Collaborate with in-region SQEs to identify equipment, fixture, and tooling needs, and facilitate implementation activities that optimize the manufacturing process.
- Establish quality and process controls to ensure early issue detection and consistent delivery of high-quality, reliable products.
- Perform FMEA, failure analysis, and SPC to drive product quality.
- Execute DOEs, line qualification, machine buy-off, and automation initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Travel up to 35% to global locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
- A bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or a related engineering field is required.
- 4+ years of experience in the electronics industry as a Quality Engineer, DFx Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or Reliability Engineer is required.
- Knowledge of Design/Process FMEA, failure analysis, and statistical process control principles.
- Experienced in conducting quality audits, developing quality control plans, managing on-site quality, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with CM FATP to resolve issues.
- Experienced in utilizing quality tools such as QFD, FMEA, SPC, GR&R, and DOE. Familiar with GD&T, Metrology, and tolerance analysis techniques.
- Experienced in working with the engineering team on DFM, Lessons Learned, and OK2X.
- Experience with the design or manufacturing process of one or more of the following components: batteries (cells or packs), fans, cables, or connectors.
- Experience in designing and implementing tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Experience with Mechanical Engineering principles, with experience in assessing mechanical components and integrating subassemblies.
- Experience with mechanical drawings and CAD designs.
- Proficiency in Excel, Mini-tab, or JMP.
- Experience detecting risks and establishing effective mitigation strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or a related engineering field is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the electronics industry as a Quality Engineer, DFx Engineer, Industrial Engineer, or Reliability Engineer is required.
- Certifications such as ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are preferred. Strong statistical analysis skills, including expertise in tools like ANOVA, hypothesis testing, and other advanced statistical methods.
- Familiarity with batteries (cells or packs), fans, cables, or connectors, including manufacturing processes, product validation, reliability testing, typical failure modes, and failure analysis methods.
- Project management experience and proven track record of creative problem-solving in product development environments.
- Self-motivated individual with an ownership mindset, experience to drive results independently and effectively lead others with minimal supervision.
