Quality: The employee completes work neatly every day, with minimal mistakes. The employee seeks out ways to improve the quality of services delivered. He/She does this by doing things to increase satisfaction and outcomes for the consumers served. In addition, continuing education will be obtained on a regular basis to remain current within the field of Autism practices and behavior strategies, to ensure quality of work.
Employee Partnership: The employee is expected to be a good team member. He/She displays respect, care and safety toward parents, coworkers, supervisors, and visitors. He/she helps co-workers to reach consumers’ goals by being resourceful, dependable and flexible. He/She provides staff with activities and strategies to ensure the consumers’ success toward reaching their goals. He/She can also lead others when necessary.
Knowledge, Abilities and Responsibilities Required:
The employee should demonstrate the philosophy and values of The Center for Autism Education, adhering strictly to the principles of Applied Behavior analysis and Code of Ethics, while giving leadership and innovation in the field. Direct Support Staff should be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma, and experience with MR/DD population is preferred
Adults, parents, and families of The Center of Autism Education will be the population served by this position. Interpersonal Skills will require oral and written communication skills to communicate with staff and families.
Working Conditions:
Work will be performed inside The Center for Autism Education, in a temperature controlled smoke free environment. Work may also be performed in the form of community outings with the consumer. The knowledge and use of universal precautions is expected as this position may be exposed to air-borne particles or body fluids while working with consumers.
