Position Summary
The Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Supervisor supports the Director of MNT with organizing and directing the daily food service operations to ensure 24-hour coverage and accountability for food and nutrition services. The Medical Nutrition Therapy Supervisor is designated to act in the absence of the Director of MNT. The MNT Supervisor has delegated authority to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of an emergency situation where there is clear and present danger that poses a threat of personal injury, or a threat of damage to property or equipment in the MNT department. The MNT Supervisor assists the Director of MNT in recruitment, retention, training, and continuing education with department associates.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience
- One to four years’ Food Service experience
License/Registration/Certifications
- Must pass Dietary Manager Certification and Serv-Safe Certification within two years of hire and maintain certification
Preferred Requirements
Preferred Education
- Associate degree or higher
Preferred Experience
- Five years’ food service and two years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting

Core Job Responsibilities
- Applies management concepts of planning, organizing, collaborating, monitoring, and directing activities to implement the medical nutrition therapy services scope of services.
- Assists the Director of MNT in establishing, reviewing, and revising policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, food codes and current practice standards to ensure food safety and emergency food supply.
- Assists Director with menu planning, purchasing of foods and supplies, evaluating, and coordinating the Nutrition Assistant staffing plan, retention of essential record, and the departmental quality assessment performance improvement plan.
- Completes nutritional screens on Skilled Nursing Facilities patients as assigned.
- Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental, treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from early adult to late adult.
