Our client is a well-established eye care provider in the Atlanta area, offering comprehensive services since 1971. The clinic is known for its team of highly experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists, specializing in a variety of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology, and LASIK surgery. They operate out of multiple locations across the region, including Buckhead, Cumberland, and Brookhaven, and provide both medical and surgical eye care
WHO YOU ARE:
A surgery coordinator has a lot of responsibilities, including answering inbound phone calls, educating cataract patients on surgery and surgical options, addressing fears, addressing financial concerns, scheduling patients for surgery, and post follow up. Relieves doctors and other medical personnel of administrative and clerical work by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
- The Surgical Coordinator schedules all patient appointments and surgeries. They also administer appointment reminders to patients. Surgical Coordinators also schedule emergency and add-on surgeries. This requires them to understand scheduling procedures for surgeries, such as how long a surgery will take and how much time to allot for set-up and turnaround, and to administer surgery schedules to appropriate medical staff.
- In order to complete the administrative tasks related to surgery, the Surgical Coordinators manage all surgical documents, gather and input patient information, and enter all post-surgery data. They also ensure that all pre-surgery paperwork is completed in time for the patient's appointment.
- Compiles and records medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
- Answers telephone and coordinates surgeries.
- Instructs patients in completion of medical history and information forms for surgery.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, the Surgical Coordinator is skilled in managing large amounts of information in a clear, thorough manner. They are capable of working independent but also offer excellent interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with patients, which is frequent. They are adaptable and able to respond quickly and adequately to constant change.

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrating knowledge of surgery scheduling
- Showing proficiency in basic computer programs
- Being familiar with OSHA and HIPAA regulations
