Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Surgical Coordinator to join our orthopedic office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical procedures, from scheduling and patient preparation to post-operative follow-up. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, surgeons, and other medical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate with operating room staff, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to ensure availability.
- Provide patients with pre-operative instructions and ensure they understand the preparation requirements.
- Obtain necessary pre-operative clearances and ensure all required documentation is completed.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, surgical schedules, and follow-up appointments.
- Coordinate post-operative care, including follow-up visits and rehabilitation appointments.
- Communicate with insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
- Assist with patient billing and ensure all charges are accurately recorded.
- Serve as a liaison between patients, medical staff, and other healthcare providers to facilitate effective communication.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience as a surgical coordinator or in a similar role within a medical office, preferably in orthopedics or dermatology.
- 5+ years of administrative healthcare experience.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite. EPIC experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures is a plus.
Details:
- Pay: $26 - $29/hr.
- Pay cycle – weekly | medical, dental & vision benefits offered.
- Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:30pm
- Onsite position – New Haven, CT. Employees will have to pay for parking. Deals are offered to employees on a monthly basis.
