Position Overview:
As a Mohs Surgery Assistant, you will be an integral part of the Mohs surgical team, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer patients through the Mohs micrographic surgery technique. This role demands a dedication to patient care, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic medical setting. Your responsibilities will include supporting surgical procedures, maintaining surgical equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Mohs surgery center.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the surgical team with all functions typically performed by a surgical medical assistant.
- Secondary Function: Assist in Gen Derm as needed
- Uphold patient confidentiality in interactions with patients, families, staff, and the public.
- Handle patient discharge by distributing all necessary documents and instructions directed by the provider.
- Communicate surgical, lab, and diagnostic results, as well as medication refills, to patients via telephone and in-person.
- Ensure patient exam rooms and medical assistant stations are well-stocked and organized with surgical supplies.
- Regularly review the provider's schedule to ensure preparedness throughout the day and prior to the start of shifts.
- Travel to different sites daily where demand is needed to ensure coverage at all times.
- Train new team members in Mohs assistant if requested.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a surgical or dermatology setting is preferred.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as necessary.
- Manual dexterity and skill in operating surgical instruments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, early mornings, or occasional weekends, based on surgery schedules.
