This is an entry level Clinical Technologist position. After successfully completing initial onboarding, the Clinical Technologist is expected to independently perform the duties outlined in their new hire training checklist. All performance measures are expected to be met, following the initial training and onboarding period (4-6 weeks), as well as on a continual basis, monitored quarterly.
- Completes ongoing education and competencies as assigned in learning management system prior to due date.
- Adheres to administrative and clinical standard operating procedures.
- Maintains flexibility with given schedule and floats to clinics other than home location as requested by supervisor.
- When not actively engaged with a scheduled patient, assists other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork to ensure effective and efficient clinic operation.
- Drives efficient patient flow: uses eCW to update patient status throughout visit, promptly rooms patients, performs Patient Verification process, obtains and documents vital signs, takes patient photos, and turns over patient rooms.
- Ensures procedure and exam rooms are stocked appropriately and communicates with supply chain team as needed.
- Submits inventory reconciliation form on dates as directed by supply chain team.
- Adheres to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards in wearing appropriate PPE, cleaning, and preparing rooms for procedures.
- Documents patient’s history of present illness (HPI), preventative screenings, and additional patient information in patient’s medical record, as directed.
- Completes consent forms accurately prior to all patient procedures and obtains patient signatures.
- Maintains autoclave with weekly and monthly maintenance, logs, and spore testing process.
- Properly processes surgical instruments, LASER fibers, and RFA catheters.
- Actively participates in the Time Out Process.
- Sets up exam rooms for sterile and nonsterile patient procedures and assists in surgical procedures.
- Adheres to standards for maintaining sterile environments and surgical attire to promote patient safety and prevent contamination during procedures.
- Assists in positioning patients and preparing patient’s skin for procedures.
- Assists physician or advanced practice provider with medication preparation.
- Responsible for medication and supply expiration dates, using the first in first out (FIFO) method ensuring items with earliest expiration dates are used first.

- Maintains the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with UVVC policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable laws and regulations. PHI is a top priority of our organization.

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of experience as a medical assistant, patient care tech, surgical tech or scrub tech in a patient care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider through American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 60 days.
- Completion of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist, Scrub Technologist or Medical Assistant Program preferred.
- Certification preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and experience with electronic medical records.
- Familiar with medical terminology.
- Dependable; able to meet reliable attendance and punctuality standards.
