Surgical Scheduler

Surgical Scheduler is a unique position that varies daily based on the clinical or clerical staffing needs of the practice. Duties often include supporting the physicians and/or mid-level providers in the practice with clinical activities and direct patient care as well as assisting patients and staff with the administrative and clerical needs of the practice.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Schedule and coordinate all surgical procedures, ensuring necessary materials are prepared, and manage pre-clearances and prior authorizations for surgeries.
- Support PSRs by assisting with patient check-ins and check-outs, verifying/updating demographics, scanning insurance cards, and collecting co-pays or outstanding balances.
- Review and confirm all H&Ps and surgical documents for the week to ensure completeness and signatures.
- Handle additional scheduling for labs, x-rays, procedures, and testing, as well as insurance referrals and pre-authorizations.
- Answer and triage incoming calls, take messages, and confirm appointments, including handling patient questionnaires and appointment reminders.
- Check out patients, print CVS, perform daily cash-out, and prepare bank deposits.
- Update patient status in Medent, including appointment confirmations, and manage provider meeting schedules.
- Ensure accurate placement of new and returning patients according to protocol, maintain provider templates, and manage answering service transitions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills with the ability to think through solutions.
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities to handle tasks efficiently.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with Medent and Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility to assist other departments when needed, especially in case of staff shortages.
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned to support overall operations.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous medical office experience preferred
- College level training/education in a healthcare support field preferred
- Previous EMR use/training helpful and preferred

Pay Range Disclosure:
- $16.00 to $21.00 per hour
