Surgical Tech, Surgery/OR - Scrub Tech

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for the care and safety of patients who come under his/her care. Prepares and maintains sterile supplies, instruments and equipment for surgery. Adheres to principles of sterilization, disinfection and maintains a sterile conscience and ethics. Accurately prepare for assigned procedures. Anticipates the needs of the patient and the surgical team. During surgical procedures, he passes instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants and maintains an accurate account of sponges, needles and instruments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses as needed.
- Assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating theater. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks.
- Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technologists and have 1 years of experience.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):
- Graduate of a surgical technology program or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years OR experience preferred
- Current BLS Certification
- Surgical Tech Certification
- Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to assist with varied operative procedures and surgeon's verbal directives.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
