About the role
Reporting directly to the Compliance Officer, this Surplus Lines Compliance Analyst position is responsible for maintaining all surplus lines compliance training and process documentation, underwriting systems management, and handling the surplus lines filings and tax/fee payments for a variety of states. There will also be the occasional system testing where you will write and execute test plans for our internal filing system, SLFS.
This role is responsible for
- Reviewing state regulatory bulletins and facilitating any required updates to our internal filing system (SLFS), various underwriting systems, and communication to the field.
- Maintenance of All Training & Process Documentation
- State GW, forms, & form instructions
- Online SL UW Guidelines, bulletins, SLFS State Guidelines, and SL QRG
- Initial documentation of insurance company reporting process, exceptions, state inquiries, & licensing team process
- SL Compliance Confluence website
- Quality checking and review of AIG-agency filed transactions submitted by the QC Team
- Help identify and raise issues to management for resolution so we can continue to make the process as compliant and efficient as possible.
- State processing
- Coordinate timely receipt of all documentation required for surplus lines filings from the QC Team.
- Escalate any potential late filings to management.
- All submissions, reports, reconciliations, and tax/fee/assessment payments must be completed in accordance with state regulatory requirements and must be submitted to the state by the due date, after being review and approved, if required.
- Create and maintain electronic copies of all items on the team shared drive and in SLFS.
- Reduce or eliminate penalties and fines for late items.
- Handling of new & terminated licensees; management of licensee state accounts
- Zero returns for licensees
- Participate in state audits
- SLFS maintenance & updates
- Participate in system testing when needed
What we’re looking for
- Self-starter, able to work independently and autonomously as well as a member of a collaborative team.
- 3+ years relevant insurance experience or knowledge of insurance; specifically in surplus lines is a plus.
- Great communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and with a high-level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work with various organizational levels
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point and Adobe Acrobat.
