Wild Coffee Human Resources is proudly partnering with one of the highest ranking civil engineering and land surveying firms in Massachusetts. On behalf of our client, Wild Coffee HR is searching for a motivated Land Survey Party Chief who will plan and evaluate survey tasks, manage logistics and crew participation and responsibilities on a day-by-day basis.
The ideal applicant will be able to evaluate the best approaches to achieving the required objectives and communicate the plan effectively to the crew. One of the most critical functions will be communicating appropriately with our clients, and confidently provide assurances that the work product will be carried out as expected. The LSPC will be able and willing to maintain a schedule of reporting to the office to obtain the paperwork for the job, the field book and associated supplies from the vault, coordinate with the instrument operator as needed to meet on site or at the office, or another location. The role requires full accountability of all survey equipment in possession and strive to learn additional features, routines and methods of utilizing the Total Station and data collectors with the assistance of office personnel and guidance or direction.
Responsibilities:
- Be a leader, educator and role model for survey crew in the field.
- Work collaboratively with field partner and office staff, taking direction from various project managers, project surveyors and/or cad technicians who may be preparing staking data or reconnaissance worksheets in connection with the task.
- Perform survey calculations using data collector with uploaded point files.
- Occasional research at town offices or registries for record information such as maps, plans, deeds and easements and right-of-way documents.
- Transfer electronic raw files from the data collector, scan field notes in the office and update field books indexing systems.
Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years of related experience / experience with Total Station and data collectors
- Highway & bridge construction survey experience
- Knowledge of or familiarity with laser scanning operations and equipment is a plus.
- Proven success managing time and supervising others.
- Basic knowledge of CAD programs is beneficial but not required.
- Project experience with topographic, roadway, utility, right of way, and Alta surveys is ideal.
- Valid Driver’s license
- Land Surveying or Engineering course work is preferred.
