WSP is currently initiating a search for a Survey Project Specialist for our Valhalla, New York office. Be involved in our Geospatial Team projects and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Provides land surveying support to engineers and project managers to ensure construction compliance with plans, photogrammetric work, measurements, boundaries, calculations, and codified requirements for public and private sector client projects. Responsibilities involve performing research and land surveys on various assigned construction projects of moderate scale, scope, and/or complexity, including visually mapping/drafting legal boundaries and the potential placement of structures, utilities, and installations. Generates accurate and concise illustrations, reports, and documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, uniformity, thoroughness, and legal compliance for survey documents.
Your Impact

- Respond to client questions and provide client updates
- Remain current with industry practices and technologies
- Collect, compile, research, and analyze data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.
- Use survey instruments to perform various types of property surveys on projects of moderate complexity and/or scope, which could include boundary, existing condition, topographic, as-built, subdivision, and profile maps.
- Follows standard practices to provide professional survey assistance and guidance to account for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.
- Verify measurements, calculations, and boundaries, resolving differences in interpretation of plans and survey specifications.
- Work with subconsultant teams in executing project work.
- Provide guidance and training to entry-level surveyor staff.
- Remain current in latest survey knowledge, techniques, and practices.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma.
- Minimum of 7 years relevant post education experience OR an equivalent combination of post high school education and relevant experience.
- Prior successful project management experience.
- Experience with preparation of work plans, maintaining schedules and budgets, managing resources, preparing and reviewing base maps and other deliverables working with clients and quality control.
- Proven leadership, team-building, and collaboration skills, including a proven track record for meeting established project and business goals.
- Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Valid state driver’s license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
- Experience with both public and private sector work (e.g. state, city, county, utility districts, and private land development).
- Well-defined knowledge of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
- Proficiency with survey equipment (e.g. Leica Robotic Total Station), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or Geopak.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current Professional Land Surveyor registration with the ability to obtain New York PLS within five (5) years

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $61,600 - $95,480
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
