General Summary for GPS Technician/Survey - Site Civil Development:
Jarbo is seeking a proactive GPS technician to join our construction teams, working on grading, excavation, and utility installation projects. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, supporting construction layout, site stakeout, and data acquisition tasks. This role offers the chance to engage with advanced industry technologies, including 3D machine control, data acquisition, modeling software (CAD & Trimble Business Center), and GNSS hardware.
Duties/Responsibilities for GPS Technician/Survey - Site Civil Development:
- Operate Trimble survey equipment and software.
- Utilize Carlson for staking, design, and on-site adjustments.
- Create models for machine control.
- Achieve finish grades for roads and parking lots.
- Analyze information from contract drawings, specifications, and surveys to resolve conflicts.
- Verify field information for accuracy and compliance with issued plans.
- Train field-level employees on GPS details and equipment usage.
- Maintain relationships with equipment vendors.
- Service and resolve GPS equipment issues independently or with vendors.
- Stake subcontractors' scopes of work (utilities, lighting, etc.).
- Maintain an organized file system.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving abilities.
- Apply mathematical skills to various tasks.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Follow detailed written or oral instructions and interpret construction plans.
- Meet physical requirements for movement and lifting.
Qualification/Requirements of GPS Technician/Survey - Site Civil Development
- Proficiency in operating Trimble GPS Base and Rover.
- Experience recording topographic data, performing volume calculations, verifying data for construction, and conducting site stakeout and construction layout.
- Experience in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarry operations.
- Insurable driving record.
- At least 2 years of related experience and/or training.
