This vacancy will be filled by new hire or by promotion of a current permanent status classified employee.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional land surveying and one of the following:
1. Three years of licensed land surveying experience.
2. Seven years of professional land surveying experience.
NOTE:
Surveying experience gained while licensed as a professional land surveyor will be accepted as licensed land surveying experience.
Surveying experience gained after earning a baccalaureate degree and 30 semester hours in land surveying, mapping, and real property courses and prior to earning a Professional Land Surveyor license (e.g., as a Surveyor Intern or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level surveying experience.

To provide managerial oversight for a statewide professional surveying program.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad direction from a Surveyor Administrator or higher-level Engineer. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Direct over Surveyor Supervisors and other survey personnel. Alternative reporting relationships may be approved by SCS.

Assists in the administration of a major section that furnishes various pertinent survey data as a basis for the engineering plans developed by the Department's design staff or private consultants.
Analyzes and assigns priorities to unit needs.
Makes program and budget recommendations to the section head.
Manages and coordinates with federal government agencies, city and parish governments and planning units, and all statewide geodetic control projects for the Louisiana Graphic Information System.
Manages and coordinates the electronic collection of field survey data, both conventional and global positioning system surveying, and the translation of input data files into the three-dimensional design formats used by the department's design sections.
Receives requests for topographic, property, and special surveys from the Department's design staff and other agency employees; schedules activities of field crews to ensure project completions in accordance with established priority mandates.
Coordinates survey requests with design engineer managers to ensure that field data collection efforts produce information tailored to each individual project requirements and that data collected is of sufficient quality and quantity for the specific project design.
Provides technical support for other surveying entities within the Department that may include contracted consulting engineering and surveying firms.
Oversees writing of bid specifications and reviews requests to purchase geodetic survey equipment, computers, and computer software.
Manages the development and training of staff.
Participates in various meetings concerning section activities, priorities and needs.
