About the Job
Highly seasoned “lead” professional, technical practitioner that provides surveying and mapping services for assignments, project management and initiatives that support the agency’s core mission of flood control, restoration, and water supply. Completes assignments that are highly complex in scope and impact, various types of surveys, such as but not limited to, topographic, hydrographic, construction, and boundary. Incumbent applies advanced knowledge of land survey principles, surveying mathematics and discipline specific software applications to complete assignments.
Advanced proficiency using CAD (Civil 3D) and GIS software in preparation of products, to store, retrieve and analyze survey and geographic data to complete assignments and make recommendations. “Subject Matter Expert” in reading and interpreting maps, plats, aerial photographs, and drawings.
Positions may include supervision of professional, technical staff.
Compensation: Salary commensurate based on experience and qualifications.

Available positions may be filled at the Senior or Project Manager level based on applicant's experience and qualifications.
Employment guidelines:
Surveyor & Mapper Senior (licensed): Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as but limited to, Survey Engineering, Geomatics and GIS, and 6+ years' experience that demonstrates measurable career and technical progression. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Licenses: Registered Professional Surveyor and Mapper required., Valid State of Florida Driver's License required.
Survey Project Manager (non-licensed): Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, such as but limited to, Survey Engineering, Geomatics and GIS, and 4+ years' experience that demonstrates measurable career and technical progression. Prior experience is a blend of project management and business/line department roles (i.e., Science, Engineering, IT, etc.). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
License:
Valid State of Florida Driver’s License required.
Working toward registered Professional Surveyor and Mapper licensure or Certified Surveyor Technician (CST) is desired, not required.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests and operates equipment to complete assignments.
Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities.
Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
