Sybase ASE Data Migration Specialist - HarmonyTech

HarmonyTech, Inc. is looking for a seasoned Data Migration Specialist. The individual will be responsible for end-to-end data migration of large (>1 TB) Sybase ASE databases from on-premises to Azure Gov Cloud. The individual will directly interact with both internal and customer stakeholders to define and deliver an agreed upon scope of services with focus on database and data migrations. A proven technical skills-set, consultative approach, innovative mindset, and collaborative spirit will be key to build a track record of successful go-lives and make a meaningful impact on an industry primed for change.

The work shall be performed at HarmonyTech’s Fairfax VA location and/or client’s location, in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

• Play a key role in Sybase ASE databases and data migration projects from inception to completion, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and performance.
• As a member of the HarmonyTech team, work with the customer to gather database migration requirements.
• Prepare and present database migration schedule
• Design, develop and implement a database migration process for migration of Sybase ASE database to Azure Gov Cloud.
• Responsible for Database migration process performance.
• Create and maintain the required documentation, such as database migration strategy, database migration plan, database migration SOP, etc.
• Leverage appropriate data migration tools available in Azure Gov Cloud and/or other third-party tools.
• Ensure the seamless migration of all database objects.
• Test the migrated data for accuracy and completeness. Resolve any issues found during testing. Maintain and track defect list.
• Reconcile the migrated data with the source data and resolve any differences.
• Validate, troubleshoot, and resolve any differences between the source database and migrated database.
• Work with the Cloud Architect and DBAs to implement an efficient, repetitive and high-quality Sybase ASE database migration process, in first the lower and finally in the production environments.
• Coordinate closely with other project team members and the customer stakeholders resulting in a successful project delivery.
• Understand and adhere to client’s established project implementation methodology.
• Deliver accurate and timely responses to customers and the implementation team (verbal and written) related to data migration tasks.

Requirements:

• At least twelve (12) years of professional work experience in IT delivery projects required
• At least five (5) years of experience with Sybase ASE Database required. Experience with other databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
• At least three years of experience as a database migration specialist/lead required. Experience with large (>1 TB) databases preferred
• At least two (2) years of experience with Azure Gov Cloud required. Experience with other cloud service providers such as AWS and Google is a plus.
• Experience with Azure data Factory, Sybase Replication Server, Sybase BCP is a plus
• Experience with Oracle Golden Gate and data replication technologies is a plus
• Strong technical skills with hands on knowledge of SQL required
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Ability to work independently and in team settings, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Understanding of Agile principles and software development lifecycles
• U.S. citizenship required

Education:

• Bachelor’s in computer science or related field of study, required.
