System Manager Sexual Assault ServicesReports to the Director of Business Health Services and is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the Sexual Assault Services department. Oversees all department staff and programs, including: 24-hour Victim Advocacy Program in conjunction with the 24-hour Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program, a 24-hour Crisis Hot-line, the Child Advocacy Center Program, Counseling Services, Prevention Education Program and Volunteer Program. Acts as a liaison between Bronson Battle Creek and federal, state and local funders of the grant-funded department. Develops and maintains all department grant funding, including required statistical and financial reports in collaboration with financial analyst and leaders in the department. Seeks additional funding for program continuation and growth. Oversees the development, interpretation, and application of hospital and departmental policies, budgets, plans and performs other related duties as assigned. Oversees agency staff, including annual performance evaluations, administrative and clinical supervision. Provides quality services designed to meet the direct needs of survivors of sexual assault and abuse and/or their non-perpetrating significant others. Collaboration with community and state-wide partners to assure a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, best practice model of response to sexual assault victims throughout the region. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Master’s degree with full licensure in social work, counseling, psychology, or related mental health/human services field (must be in good standing in the state of Michigan); LMSW preferred. Must have a minimum 2 years’ leadership experience in the supervision of staff, budgeting and grant management, grant writing, community engagement, crisis intervention and counseling, with specialized experience in sexual assault issues, including the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Leader must be trained and skilled in trauma-informed models and approaches to care, with a demonstrated ability to relate to survivors in a patient, empathic and non-judgmental manner preferred.
• Experience with Management of complex, multiple grants and funding streams
• Knowledge of partner systems including criminal justice, medical, mental health, child protection, and schools
• Training and experience with trauma-informed models of treatment for trauma survivors, as well as understanding of secondary traumatic stress often experienced by staff in sexual assault programs
• Experience leading training teams and facilitating community events
• Skilled at public speaking, providing multi-disciplinary community training, professional in-service education
Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20 percent of the work time. The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.
• Develops budget and secures funding for the grant-funded department, including development of new funding sources for expansion into regional underserved rural counties.
• Collaborates with BHF, BBC administration, finance, risk management, human resources, and other BBC departments to assure department compliance with BBC policies as well as successful quality assurance reviews from federal, state and local funders. Works closely with Bronson Corporate Communications on all marketing and promotional materials.
• Oversees development and implementation of programs to ensure comprehensive, consistent, competent services to victims of sexual assault and abuse, including new programs for service expansion. Expansion of services includes regional SANE services in Kalamazoo county through BMH emergency department and Children’s Hospital, and the YWCA. Expansion includes services in Van Buren County at BLH through work with the emergency department and the local service providing agency, The Domestic Violence Coalition. Future expansion and collaboration with South Haven in Van Buren County and rural counties: St. Joseph, Cass, Eaton. Provides training to multi-disciplinary professionals across the region.
• Hires and manages all department staff, provides administrative and clinical supervision; provides staff job performance evaluations; and assures staff receives training to assure needed competencies. Supervises the SANE program Coordinator who oversees SANE medical procedures and records. Supervises the regional SANE program staff working across the region in Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Van Buren and areas for future development/expansion. Supervises staff who assist across the region by training professionals and volunteers in Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Van Buren Counties.
• Develops and leads special community projects and events to raise awareness of program services and needs, and to increase funding opportunities. Works with the Bronson Health Foundation with grant management and furthering future funding opportunities.
• Collaborates with community leaders to assure strong, working relationships with hospitals, law enforcement, prosecutor’s office, crisis hotline provider and other relevant community agencies and programs in Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Van Buren, Eaton, counties. Future expansion is planned in more counties in the Bronson service area.
• Represents SAS, BBC, BHG on multi-county community groups and state-wide councils, task forces and committees to promote collaborative efforts to assist sexual assault victims.
• Provides counseling and counseling-related services to program participants, in individual and group settings.
• Provides expert witness testimony regarding sexual assault and child sexual abuse in court settings.
• Convenes bi-weekly staff meetings, semi-annual staff planning meetings, and utilizes other staff management tools.
• Engages in public speaking/community education presentations and media, locally, regionally and state-wide. Serves as faculty for local and state training on the issue of sexual assault. Provides training to multi-disciplinary professionals in multiple counties.
• Maintains program participant records, collects client statistics and submits reports as required.
• Observes confidentiality policy regarding all client and agency information, as well as child abuse and other reporting mandates.
• Projects a positive image of the SAS program, BBC and BHG and presents a mature, professional demeanor when making community contacts.
• Regularly evaluates program and assures the provision of quality sexual assault services.
• Adheres to the policies and procedures of SAS, BBC and BHG.
• Keeps informed of relevant policies and procedures, community resources and other information related to the provision of quality sexual assault services.
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Compliance Accountability Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
• Demonstrates a commitment to providing outstanding customer service in a manner that is reflective of BBC mission, values, and customer service standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
