HJF is seeking a Systems Administrator II in support of Military Traumatic Brain Injury Initiative (MTBI2). This incumbent will be responsible for the setup, installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, virtual machines, networking resources, and the deployment of custom developed software applications to meet the needs of the MTBI2 Informatics Core. This Systems Administrator II works as a member of a very diverse and broad team of technical experts; follows internal priorities, work schedules and goals and responsibilities from the bioinformatics core director; and uses his/her own initiative and sound judgment to identify efficient and effective solutions.
MTBI2 is a federal military traumatic brain injury (TBI) research program organized as a partnership between the Uniformed Services University and the National Institutes of Health. MTBI2 supports a wide range of research from pre-clinical models to investigational projects and clinical trials research on TBI and its comorbidities. HJF provides scientific, technical, and programmatic support services to MTBI2.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities:
- Able to maintain and run multiple servers (Linux and Windows).
- Able to configure backups, perform data restore, and familiar with associated software (VEEAM)
- Familiar with ANSIBLE, Jenkins and automated software deployment processes.
- Able to manage domains, SMTP server connections and review system logs as needed.
- Capable of working collaboratively in a multi domain, fast paced environment.
- Creates documentation and continuous process improvement activities in conjunction with Dev team Infra team and Bioinformatics Director.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by informatics core director (reports directly to the MTBI2 Informatics core director).
- This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6-8 years experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experienced with Linux server administration
- Experienced with Windows server administration
- Familiar with ANSIBLE, Jenkins and deployments
- Advanced skills with system device management and monitoring.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to work with a wide variety of personnel of varied technical knowledge.
US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance
Licenses and Certifications
- Vendor training/certification preferred (e.g. MCSE) but not required.
Physical Capabilities
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in a office setting.
Compensation:
- The annual salary range for this position is $64,200-$80,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
