Job Summary

Electro-Mech Scoreboard Company is currently seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to join our I.T. Department.  We are looking for someone to become a part of the team responsible for maintaining computer systems, network infrastructures, server infrastructures, documentation, and technology-based research and development.  Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate a history of performance and availability in systems they have managed as well as a reputation for anticipating and exceeding client expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, networks, and server infrastructures
• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and resolve problems promptly
• Assist with developing and implementing security policies and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to our systems and networks
• Ensure that all systems and software are kept up to date with the latest patches and updates
• Manage user accounts and permissions -- including creating and deleting user accounts and setting up their access levels
• Create and maintain system documentation -- including diagrams and manuals
• Troubleshoot system failures and coordinate with vendor support teams to resolve issues
• Ensure backups of critical data are performed and disaster recovery plans are in place
• Manage Active Directory and Domain Name System (DNS) infrastructure
• Monitor network traffic and identify and mitigate security threats -- including viruses and malware
• Provide support -- including troubleshooting and training -- to company employees and clients

 
Required Skills and Background

• Extensive knowledge of workstation and server operating systems
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare and Hyper-V
• Strong understanding of networking technologies including TCP/IP, routing, and switching
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions such as Unitrends/Symantec
• In-depth understanding of security policies and procedures
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Willingness to work outside of normal business hours when required

Secondary Skills (Helpful but not Essential)

• Familiarity with Sage 100 or similar ERP/CRM/Accounting software
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
• Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, the SQL language, and database structures
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access and Visual Basic for Applications
• Familiarity with JavaScript and other scripting languages
• Familiarity with Python, Java, C, or any other programming language
• Familiarity with software version control
• Experience with UI development
• Technical writing experience or training
• Technical illustration experience or training
• Experience with video editing or other content creation tools
• Experience with ProPresenter
• Willingness to provide support and training to external customers via phone, email, and occasionally on site visits
• Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish
• An interest in sports
• No fear of heights

 
Job Summary

Electro-Mech has been around for over sixty years and is evolving from being a small manufacturing operation into becoming a medium size business in a "tech adjacent" industry.  This is not an environment defined by bleeding edge innovation and the kind of ongoing stress-filled adrenaline-soaked workload you might expect from a startup or company where milliseconds can cost the investors millions.  However, people can get testy when their Internet connection is slow.  The job is not without pressure.   And, as you can probably guess from looking through the wide range of skills name-checked in the bullet points above, an Electro-Mech Systems Admin has to wear many many hats.  You must be able to multitask with minimal supervision and manage the details amid distractions.  It is a fun and relaxed place to work, but probably too unstructured for a beginner.  This job is for the person who not only brings an array of skills to the table but also a strong work ethic.
