Overview
Provides review and abstraction from medical records to ensure the accuracy and completeness of clinical data. This position requires a detail-oriented and experienced nurse who can review patient records, summarize key information, and input data into electronic health record (EHR) systems. The System Analyst Nurse will work closely with healthcare providers, coding teams, and other departments to support quality improvement initiatives, research, and regulatory compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
- Consistently demonstrates effective skills in information management.
- Consistently available as a resource and consultant on Meditech Clinical Applications.
- Evaluates and recommends items, software, procedures, etc. which would support and/or enhance the clinical information system.
- Acts as organization representative to American Data Network and attends meetings of American Data Network.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to review at least 25 inpatient records daily for medical staff approved quality indicators and/or Core Measures (including but not limited to: Community Acquired Pneumonia, AMI, CHF, Stroke, VTE, Patient Transition, SCIP, OB).
- Consistently demonstrates ability to abstract up to 10 additional charts for special projects.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to enter data collected during chart abstraction into the ADN Core Measures database and the AFMC database in a timely and accurate manner.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to run analytical reports on Core Measures from ADN database.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to use hospital’s Information System to gather information for special projects.
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to generate and compile reports for the QM/RM Meditech application including, but not limited to: falls, medication events, communication events, other patient injuries, adverse drug reactions.
- Always maintains complete confidentiality as required by North Arkansas Regional Medical Center and Arkansas Act 445 of 1977.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to use word-processing and spreadsheet programs to make effective reports.
- Consistently and effectively provides support and assistance to Department Directors and Managers related to improvement of information management and documentation.
- Consistently identifies educational needs of the hospital staff regarding documentation/information management and provides appropriate training.
- Evaluates and recommends items, software, procedures, etc. which would support and/or enhance the organization’s quality of care.
- Review and enter charges as appropriate in Meditech.
- Review billing discrepancies for Business Office by checking for accuracy of documentation and making adjustments to billing as appropriate.
- Be able to operate independently and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Consistently maintains an active personal and professional development program in the field of performance improvement and quality management that includes current knowledge of regulatory requirements and changes, accreditation standards, evaluation techniques, and research.
- Consistently maintains a commitment to the improvement of the professional through participation in and active support of the state and national professional organizations.

Education:
Experience:
· Has minimum of two years of experience in the acute care setting.
Prefer previous experience in quality management and/or case management and/or infection control and/or risk management.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:
· Current RN or LPN licensure for the State of Arkansas
· Prefer CPHQ or CCM certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Improves professional growth and knowledge of job to maintain efficiency and effectiveness by any of the following means: belonging to professional organizations, attending approved seminars, subscribing to and reading journals and publications pertinent to job activities.
