Basic Commerce and Industries, Inc. (BCI) is seeking to fill a full-time mid- to senior-level Systems Engineer / Navy Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Integrated Combat Systems Department (V) department. BCI's areas of expertise include Human Systems Integration/Human Factors Engineering, Interoperability, Training, Operational Systems Safety, and Weapon & Combat Systems Engineering. BCI's work force of employees and consultants includes human factors engineers, operational engineers and former naval officers and enlisted subject matter experts.

Experience Required:
Successful candidates must have a minimum of 10-15 years US Navy surface warfare experience gained while on active duty senior enlisted or officer, serving on carriers, DDGs, CGs, LCS, large deck or smaller amphibious ships, or land based test sites, etc., or 10-15 years civil service or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) experience. Specialized experience is required in such programs as Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), NIFC-CA, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) or US Coast Guard. Advanced writing and speaking abilities a must. Two (2) years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required, experience with Microsoft Visio is a plus. A formal degree supporting systems engineering, software engineering or significant analysis experience is a plus. Knowledge and understanding of simulation systems used for Aegis and/or SSDS combat systems testing and training is a plus.
Description of Duties:
This position will provide senior level systems engineering and analysis support to the Combined Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Trainer (CIAT). The position plays a critical role in ensuring that CIAT meets the training needs of the fleet. It involves development of in-depth understanding of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) and functionality of current and emerging Combat Systems enhancements, coordination with training staff to understand training approach, and translation of operational training concepts into clear, concise, and verifiable technical requirements that can be understood and implemented by CIAT technical staff. Duties include: (1) Conducting Requirements Management processes (2) Providing review and recommendations on combat systems, simulation systems, and system of systems integration technical issues; (3) Conducting trade-off analysis, (4) Assisting with risk management and assessments; (5) Assisting with the verification of requirements implementation; (6) Reviewing requirements traceability and analysis; and (7) Providing technical assessments, evaluations, and analysis on system problems. The individual filling this role will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts and engineers assembled to accomplish the tasks listed above. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to perform efficiently and effectively on multiple assignments under tight deadlines. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the BCI team and customers.
Occasional travel may be required.
