Odyssey has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to support the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Project Management Office (PMO) within PEO AVN. The ideal candidate would provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Those solutions would be imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
This candidate should have a wide understanding and application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the systems engineering field, particularly as applied to software development. Should be able to establish and achieve goals based on stated objectives and provide guidance to employees that result in the consistent accomplishment of those goals and objectives.
This candidate should be able to use general guidance to develop direction and communicate that direction to a team in order to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located in Huntsville, AL at Redstone Arsenal.
Responsibilities:Duties include, but not limited to:
Responsible for PM UAS policy related to Systems Engineering processes, artifacts, and reviews to include the UAS Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Risk Management, Digital Engineering
- Responsible for project requirements and technical data package content management.
- Implement policy and procedure guidance in accordance with industry and UAS standards.
- Development and updates of common standards (NATO, interoperability, industry, etc.)
- Works with peers within TMD to coordinate on equities and communicates and collaborates effectively with Product Offices to ensure application of systems engineering rigor with pragmatic cost, schedule, performance tailoring where valid.
- Assists the project lead in sprint planning, task definition and scope, estimating cost and schedule of new efforts, and identification of project risks.
- Responsible for planning and leading project status meetings that include direct interface with the end customer as well as monthly customer reports.
- Establishes and maintains technical processes guidance to include requirements definition, analysis, and validation, classic engineering V – implementation, integration, verification, validation, and transition processes, and agile systems engineering processes.
- Responsible for personnel management of the system engineering team.
- Implementation, Modeling and Simulation, and conduct of design/technical reviews across the UAS portfolio.
- Focus on identifying correct open standards for UAS Family of Systems. In maturing open standards with inter-nation partners, will be the PM UAS lead on multiple PM-UAS-Supported NATO groups to include the JCGUAS.
- Serves as a Technical Monitor for systems engineering projects that are coordinated through the product offices.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
Years of Experience:
- Five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with military aviation regulations and standards, such as MIL-STD-882E (Standard Practice for System Safety) and MIL-STD-1797A (Aviation System Safety Management).
- Experience with the development of systems/sub-systems requirements, systems and software integration, developmental and operational test planning and execution preferred.
- Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) experience using Rhapsody SysML, System Architect, RSA, Rhapsody Harmony SE, Rhapsody DoDAF, RoseRT, and Cameo MagicDraw
- Experience with requirements development, decomposition, and trace experience using DOORS and ReqPro on acquisition defense programs.
- Experience with Uncrewed Systems
- Experience with aviation system development and engineering
- Experience with Agile development methodology.
- Experience with Mounted Mission Command platform and NOC systems.
- Experience with fielding Joint Battle Command-Platform systems.
- Strong attention-to-detail and follow-through.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate successfully as part of a diverse team in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, outstanding initiative, aggressive problem-solving and task management skills as well as excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
