The Opportunity:
The Systems Engineer I - ic ODEpBAis responsible for building, monitoring, and maintaining the MGB Enterprise Epic database environments as well as the MGB Enterprise IRIS application platforms.
This involves maintaining critical business and clinical applications in a 24 hour a day healthcare environment with shared on-call responsibilities. The objectives are to improve manageability and supportability of the Epic and MGB-developed application platforms and reduce downtime (scheduled and unscheduled) of the systems under management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Build and manage Epic ODB environments for production, reporting, training and non-production.
· Perform maintenance tasks on the Epic environments according to documented best practices and established procedures. This includes major Epic upgrades and Special Updates, Disaster Recovery events, environment refreshes and other related platform maintenance.
· Maintain the MGB-developed application platforms through extensive monitoring, upgrades and general support.
· Compile and analyze system resource and performance data for performance analysis and capacity planning.
· Research technical issues and system maintenance methodologies
· Test new versions of system and database software
· Develop UNIX scripts to automate IRIS administration tasks
· Develop and document procedures for database administration
· Review software changes and internal workflow/dataflow processes and procedures for accuracy and opportunities for improvement.
· Participate in weekly on-call rotation for system support in primary or secondary role
· Present designs and proposed system changes to the team
· Provide guidance and assistance to MGB Epic analysts and application developers

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
· This position requires occasional local travel to MGB sites, vendors, and/or conferences
· Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.
· Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Qualifications:
Must have EPIC experience
· Bachelors degree or equivalent
· Experience managing Epic ODB environments required. This includes building Epic ODB environments and performing Epic upgrades and updates.
· Current Epic ODBA certification strongly preferred
· IRIS database administration experience required
· Experience with Microsoft Azure preferred
· Experience developing IRIS system maintenance scripts
· Experience in performance analysis of operating systems and IRIS as well as capacity planning
· Experience and knowledge of UNIX/Linux system administration and UNIX scripting required
· Experience developing system maintenance-related project plans
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
· Demonstrated knowledge, experience and proficiency in IRIS administration
· Excellent reasoning and analytic skills in a time critical/mission critical problem-solving operation.
· Excellent communications, interpersonal and presentation skills.
· Ability to lead discussions on specific technical topics

· Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical people.
