Systems Engineer III - Actalent

Job Title: Systems Engineer Job Description Looking for a candidate experienced in keeping technical infrastructure running smoothly and balancing high-priority issues. You should be comfortable taking on ambiguous challenges like setting up new pre-production hardware for the first time. You should be able to define SOPs, metrics, and alarms to keep equipment and test infrastructure highly available and expand the team's capabilities over time. You will be invaluable in enabling the team to move quickly and confidently with robust verification frameworks that scale with our systems. Responsibilities + Design, set up, and maintain test fixtures to verify software on real hardware. + Utilize software and scripts for operations to keep things running and highly available. + Troubleshoot software and hardware problems with pre-production equipment. + Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, solving complex technical challenges around developer and engineering productivity and velocity, especially as it relates to rapid test iteration. + Design and build advanced automated build, test, and release infrastructure. + Drive adoption of best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability. Essential Skills + 2+ years of non-internship professional software development or IT experience. + Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby. + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical field. + 2+ years of experience in any of the following: test lab support, operational hardware support. + 2+ years of experience with test automation, debugging, building test tools, and testing frameworks. + 2+ years of experience working with Linux-based systems. + 2+ years of experience in computer networking (admin level). Additional Skills & Qualifications + Highly autonomous, very detail-oriented, and willing to learn new skills. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers. + The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. + Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, evaluate alternatives, and develop processes and tools as needed to support the organization. Work Environment Onsite in Redmond. The team owns labs, tools, and software for verifying the quality of networking equipment before release. This software will be operating both on the ground and in space. The team raises the high-quality bar before the software reaches customers. Building satellites for communities offers the possibility for extension or conversion. Compensation: $60-68/HR We reserve the right to pay above or below the posted wage based on factors unrelated to sex, race, or any other protected classification.
