In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program , where you will L earn, E ngage, A pply, and P rogress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
The Opportunity
BAE Systems is seeking aSystems EngineerInternwith a Mechanical Engineering background for Summer 2025. Join our Mechanical Interfaces Team within our Systems Engineering/Interface Management Program Area and become a member of a diverse, enthusiastic, and highly productive team , where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects. Working within a digital engineering environment and leveraging model-based systems engineering methodologies, the selected intern will help ensure that all weapon system interface requirements are correctly defined and properly coordinated for the US/UK TRIDENT Submarine Strategic Weapon System (SWS) and US Attack Weapon System programs in support of the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP)a program that keeps our nation safe with a credible sea-based nuclear deterrent. The selected candidate will work closely with numerous engineering teams to perform the following functions:
+ Performing technical change evaluations
+ Interfacing with government and contractor activities to define Weapons System Coordinated Interfaces
+ Supporting interface workshops with government and contractor participants, including the capture and production of workshop minutes
About the Program
Our organization has supported SSP continually since the program s inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched SWS, a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. For more than six decades, SSP has maintained and upgraded this weapon system and we have been there every step of the way. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and is the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. With over 70% of our nation s nuclear arsenal its importance to maintaining world peace cannot be overstated. The development of the COLUMBIA class, the most advanced nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed submarine ever designed, as well the next D5LE2 weapon system is under way and will begin to be rolled out over the next decade. The US Navy projects that this system will be operational through 2084, meaning the program will have a total life span of more than 120 years. This is a truly unique program and BAE Systems employees on this program understand they are part of an important legacy.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (Sophomore) by start of internship
+ Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or another engineering-related major
+ Understanding of basic engineering principles
+ Excellent oral and written communicationskills, especially presentation skills with the customer as audience
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with othersas a team player and collaborator across interdisciplinary teams
+ Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
+ Effective time management skills
+ Proficiencywith PCs andin Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Experience with Creo Parametric, DOORS, MATLAB, and/or MagicDraw
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $48620 - $65670
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
