As the Systems Engineer (Powertrain Functional Safety), you will be responsible for:
- Lead and execute quantitative and qualitative functional safety activities, including the development of Hazard and Risk Analyses (HARAs), Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs), Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FMEAs), and/or Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analyses (FMEDAs).
- Define and manage functional safety requirements to prevent or detect failures and meet System Safety Goals.
- Develop and evaluate fault detection algorithms to ensure they are both robust and effective.
- Conduct detailed functional safety analyses on both custom and third-party hardware.
- Coordinate with third-party hardware suppliers to ensure that Diagnostic Information and Assessments (DIAs) are in place, tracked, and that safety work products are delivered and reviewed.
- Collaborate with test engineers to create test plans that verify functional safety requirements, measure coverage, and validate fault-handling capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering.
- Over 4 years of experience in hazard analysis, functional/requirements decomposition, managing safety requirements, and ensuring requirements traceability.
- Practical experience with ISO 26262 standards.
- Knowledge of components and failure modes in DC-DC converters, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and electric vehicle (EV) powertrains.
- Experience with high-voltage power distribution architectures.
- Familiarity with system development standards such as ISO 21448, ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C, DO-254, IEC 13849, IEC 61508, or similar.
- Experience with safety-related computing and/or control systems.
- Application of safety knowledge and skills to autonomous vehicles.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $163,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
